Job Description:
GNS BOSTON has several charters; Hosting FAST Enterprise Search Product customers, running PDNS servers for the Digital Crimes Unit, running scripting servers for the GNS Ninjas, and running VI for GNS. There is a tremendous opportunity to affect change during a time of transition to new hardware, network, and facilities. Lead Projects on Windows System Engineering, including: architect, design, implement and monitor solutions. That the primary function of FAST Hosting is sun setting and is scheduled to no longer be around past March of 2016.

Responsibilities:
1. This role is vital to the overall success of the systems team. Work directly with the Group Lead of System Engineering on the direction of all Windows based platform and monitoring. Take lead on architecture, design, implementation, Perform all facets of System Engineering; work on Windows Operating Systems and Hardware Platforms.
2. By working with the Group Lead of System Engineering to ensure that all Windows based platform servers and services have fully implemented monitoring, reporting, and automation. The successful candidate will be able to juggle multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a great attitude, and mentoring junior group members and setting a positive tone in the department.
3. In-depth knowledge of; Windows Systems administration. Windows Clustering, specifically iSCSI clustering, SharePoint, SQL, SCCM, SCOM design, implementation and optimization. Ability to lead and mentor junior mentors on projects as assigned. Write code to automate tasks such as server provisioning, monitoring, and reporting. Expert PowerShell knowledge, as well as C# and .NET. Performance analysis, production-facing customer work as required. Produce documentation for all work, posting it on SharePoint.
4. GNS Boston, GNS, GFS, Digital Crimes Unit. Others as they become applicable.

Skills & Qualifications:
1. At least 10 years of experience in a fast-paced dynamic production environment with multiple facilities and multiple operating systems. Collaborate within a team dynamic as well as with other teams across groups and departments. A positive attitude is a major soft skill this person must possess.
2. In-depth knowledge of; Windows Systems administration. Windows Clustering, specifically iSCSI clustering, SharePoint, SQL, SCCM, SCOM design, implementation and optimization. Ability to lead and mentor junior mentors on projects as assigned. Write code to automate tasks such as server provisioning, monitoring, and reporting. Expert PowerShell knowledge, as well as C# and .NET. Performance analysis, production-facing customer work as required. Produce documentation for all work, posting it on SharePoint. Direct Access Storage expertise, deep knowledge of all RAID technologies. Ability to prototype and quickly benchmark new technologies.
3. In addition to the item iterated in #2 above, ability to troubleshoot problems quickly, resolve them, and put a permanent fix in for any systemic issues. Ability to collaborate across many groups and disciplines. A positive, “can do” attitude. A good understanding of networks would be a huge plus in this position as well.
4. A proven career track record of success in fast-paced dynamic production environments, with cross discipline collaboration. Self-confidence in their abilities, but not to the point of arrogance or condescending to junior team members. Show initiative by identifying and addressing issues as they arise. Seek new challenges and address them as they arise. Lead significant projects technically from inception through completion, sometimes leading a team, other times working alone.

Experience Required:
1. Ability to work collaboratively both within a team and across multiple teams, on large complex projects, understanding responsibilities and deliverables that they own. This would have to be in a primarily Production Windows Server environment with other operating systems. Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior members, work with peers, and take direction from leadership. Self-starter who takes initiative and takes action to address identified and agreed upon issues.
2. BS in CS, and/or 10+ years of proven successful industry experience.
Must to be self-motivated, look for opportunistic ways to improve the environment; as well as the ability to work alone on projects, being self-directed and results driven. This person must have a positive attitude and willingness to work with and mentor junior team members.
